the spice of life.

Last week was a rough one, so needless to say I haven't felt much like nesting or writing. But we had a much needed vacation with friends and family, and now I am back feeling slightly refreshed and ready to tackle my next problem. Which would be our..........SPICE DRAWER!

oh the horror....

With the kitchen the size that it is, space is limited, so I've been using a drawer to house all our spices, but every time I go to use one its a nightmare! With a little research I found some great ideas to fix my little problem.

I like this idea but not all of my spices are the same brand or in the same size bottle and the drawer I'm using is too deep for this to work.

This one seems more practical for what I am working with.

I heart heart heart this idea but were talking some serious dedication and $$$.
So with these ideas in mind, I think I'm ready! Stay tuned for photos.

Le Creuset on the mind.

I woke up this morning thinking of brightly colored enameled cast iron, its safe to say my latest obsession has been Le Creuset. I MUST BUY! I've been devoting all my spare time on researching for this next big purchase. To buy a brand new 5pc set is about $450, so I'm going the cheaper route and taking it to ebay. First I want to start with some frying pans, then perhaps a sauce pan, hopefully moving right on to the French dutch oven, then maybe adding some baking pans. Oh the possibilities and pieces are endless, love love love it! Now what color/s do I want??

Not a huge orange girl, but I wouldn't mind this.

Could this be my kitchen please.

A work in Progress

                                                          Our table is here!

The stools were the worst part even Treusey tried to help!

All in all it was a process to put together but it's all done and beautiful!

All of my etsy purchases showed up on the same day, (I love getting packages in the mail I feel so special.) Now the fun part is what to do with them.

I also FINALLY received my shower curtain from West Elm, it had be back ordered since February but its here now and I LOVE IT!

Zen kinda Jen

I woke up this morning feeling a little off, I couldn't exactly put my finger on what was wrong. I started with my usual routine but could feel that my heart wasn't in it. While researching on the Internet I came across this article and I thought it was all too fitting. It helped me find some zen in my day, and I hope it does the same for you. Enjoy!

It's from the website Shambhala Sun and it reads.

MINDFUL LIVING: IN THE HOME

10 Tips for a Mindful Home

Wake with the sun
There is no purer light than what we see when we open our eyes first thing in the morning.

Sit
Mindfulness without meditation is just a word.

Make your bed
The state of your bed is the state of your head. Enfold your day in dignity.

Empty the hampers
Do the laundry without resentment or commentary and have an intimate encounter with the very fabric of life.

Wash your bowl
Rinse away self-importance and clean up your own mess. If you leave it undone, it will get sticky.

Set a timer
If you're distracted by the weight of what's undone, set a kitchen timer and, like a monk in a monastery, devote yourself wholeheartedly to the task at hand before the bell rings.

Rake the leaves
Rake, weed, or sweep. You'll never finish for good, but you'll learn the point of pointlessness.

Eat when hungry
Align your inexhaustible desires with the one true appetite.

Let the darkness come
Set a curfew on the
internet and TV and discover the natural balance between daylight and darkness, work and rest.

Sleep when tired
Nothing more to it.
